Worst I've had was about 4 months between resets. Opened the first (in reverse order, so furthest into NF), got a grape. I gave up at that point and went back to FOW/UW/Bergen/anything but that crap.

ok my 2cents.

My characters: some have finished nf, some have not---the ones that have NOT still seem to get good drops from the chests, the ones that did finish--grapes and very little gold.
Case in point---my female monk had just completed killing abbadon and obtained margrid---did dasha mission, then went back in to get the treasure- grape and LESS than 1plat

. Also she was capping the monk elite in domain of pain--there is a chest there---1st time....grape and 1plat and a few gold more

since then I have not opened any chests with her....

I also have a few characters I have just not felt like getting thru the rest of nf (got them to vabbi) they do the lyss and highlands ones---get gold and almost max gold each time.

Needless to say if I need gold or to id gold weapons I use those characters to get it...the others who have finished nf just seem to get junk (even after waiting for 3+ months---forgot about a few of them and went back to do them all --all junk grapes and less plat than before).

Or everyone is running them on multiple characters I found that running on multiple characters kills the drops on them to.

Heh, some of my characters aren't resetting monthly

A couple still do, rather odd if you ask me. I just figure its free, so can't complain if it doesn't always work. Not like I spent 50k on keys only to find the chests didn't open.

Your Elona chests work on a per-character basis, not account.

Your drops and money earned from them are not dependant on how long you wait between runs.

Your drops are dependant on the frequency, per character, of the specific chest you open.

You will see gradual diminishing returns per character, upon each successive opening of a specific chest.

Revisiting chests is possible after a minimum 28 day cycle, upwards to 35 day cycle.

I open several chests for the first time (I mean never been there before) and I got purple items (craps).

I would like to know why? Because I was told that the first time you get a gold item for sure.
Bad luck doesn't really explain this or ...... does it?

Counter to Urban Legends, I don't think anything effects them other than steady decline of value in items given. I don't bother to grab them anymore. I could make that cash and more in the time spent getting them all.

Agree with you cant see me. The only variable I have found is how often that char has opened that particular chest. I have multiple chars gettin' em all as does my husband. Both of us will take a couple hrs grabbing em al with each char when they've reset. The ones who've done it a bunch get crap. The ones who are "new" to a chest get gold....

lol, true randomness in a digital game? I think not, since it's actually impossible to code something truly random. Even "random number generators" aren't really such, it's why the lotto still uses machines and numbered balls.

I find that if you click on a treasure earlier than 1 month of the opening you will end up resetting the timer. However, the longer i wait the better the drop may be. It could just be random but i left all treasures and open the Realm of torment ones. I used to get a nice reward each time (max money about 3.5k)...but now i got two max purples on my main character.

I have a weird routine where the first half of the month half of my characters start from the Realm of torment and every day open a new chest. Then the ot half of the characters do this on the next half of the month. It seems to be a pretty good technique to make sure you dont overuse a particular chest.

My experience:

I usually wait a couple of months between checks. I don't plan it like that. I just forget about them until I come across a thread like this.

I have only ever gotten golds or gems until recently. About half-way thru running the chests on my monk, they switched to purple and then stayed purple for that character for the rest of the run.

i usually forget about them until see 1 while out on a killing spree but recently out with a few guildies and the burried treaure in mirror of lyss dropped in this order: purple, gold, purple.

drops of any sort is random, y would there be a stratergy behing the treasure chests?

On my necro (my main) I got decent drops, that was awhile ago - I never use my necro to farm nor do I open the chest frequently anymore and now the drops are significantly worse (purples, <1k gold).

The time between when I recently opened it and when I last did would be at least 2+ months.

For every theory about the Elonian treasures, there is one person with a counter-theory to debunk the previously mentioned theory. Seriously, I've stopped trying to use logic with them a long time ago and just open them every now and then.

Yeh for those saying for some of their chars don't reset every month its because your checking the chest too early and ultimately resetting the timer for that char, so if you check 1 day too early you've got a whole month to wait again.
The fact that the timer reset is defo character based suggests any variable related to the drops is also character based rather than account.
Best to use something like beginning or end of the month as a benchmark as to when they're ready. I know mine reset at the beginning of the month and do them all at once on all my chars.

the more you open them the worse they get my ranger opens them every 45 days and hasnt gotten a gold in 10 months, my monk also

it seems once you open the chest more then 5 times no matter how long you wait you geta purple over 10 you get unmaxed purples, i hoping for blue next lol
